Personally I think the HP books are better but the LOTR films are far far superior, the LOTR books are just too slow and take too long to get going for my liking thats all.

i agree with tricksta...i found the books of lotr (except "the hobbit") really hard to read and the movies great. harry potter books are great (imo) ive always enjoyed but the movies are hell dodgy...the third was **** imo and i havent seen the fourth yet

harry potter 4th film is acceptable, but they have to move so fast and cut chunks out to make it a reasonable length. I downloaded it rather than paying to watch it lol...

Yeah I would also rather dl them then go pay to watch them. =)

Harry potter books draw you in more and make you keep reading. The movies arnt so great because of all the stuff they skip.

LOTR are way the hell to long... TO MUCH DESCRIPTIONS in them... Movies are pretty good though.

Harry Potter in my opinion is much easier to get hooked on thn LOTR but films wise the LOTR trilodgy is much better than the 4 harry potter films that have curently been released.

I like LOTR better...But its gotten less popular. HP still has more coming, but LOTR is all out of Movies/books, unless they make a Hobbit movie.

I have to say Harry Potter is better in my opinion. I never got into the LOTR series. I saw the movies, and they were fine, but I would rather read Harry Potter(which is one of my favorite book series).

HP for me too, LOTR can get kinda boring when for the last 5 chapters all they talk about is walking through the wonderful scenery.

Harry Potter. Its just more entertaining than reading the life story of hobbits. LOTR is only good for the games. I found the Movies/Books very boring.
