Because they suck.

Their fragile, the screen is tiny, they don't play Gameboy games, the buttons are smaller than a pinhead, and more.

If you were thinking of buying one, I'd strongly recommend against it. Instead, go for a DS Lite.

My friend got one. He dropped it when he tried to put it in his pocket and it pretty much shattered. I wouldn't buy it.

The main problem is that they are very fragile and very hard to play games on so thats whu here in England no-one is buying any
