Reggie has unveiled a new Gameboy, a tiny Gameboy...the Gameboy Micro. This unit, looking practically half the size of the original Gameboy Advance, will boast the finest color screen Nintendo has yet put in a portable and will play all GBA games. It will be backlit, and it should be noted it does not sport the GBA SP and DS' clamshell design.

Reggie stated the Micro represented a "three-to-one" advantage over the competition (referring to the DS, the SP and now the Micro.) It will feature fully customizable faceplates as well to jive with each individual user.

Quote:
To give an idea of the Micro's size and heft, Reggie stated it would be "a hair bigger and two-thirds the weight of an iPod Mini." Furthermore, it is scheduled for a Fall release (at least in the US) and will offer users a number of fully customizable faceplates.

Some more details include the dimensions of the new unit: at 4 inches wide, 2 inches tall and 0.7 inches deep and weighing a mere 2.8 ounces, this Gameboy marks Nintendo's smallest ever. It has a brushed metallic case, again fully removeable and interchangeable and will feature the standard-sized GBA 2 inch screen only with considerably more juice behind its display. The screen will be immensely bright, and will be adjustable by gamers to accomodate different lighting conditions. Also, the Micro WILL have a headphone jack. Hallellujah.

George Harrison, Nintendo Senior VP of Marketing and Corporate Communications, had this to say regarding Nintendo's sleek, chic new handheld: "We're making the gorgeous Game Boy Micro for image-conscious folks who love video games, the ones who want the look of their system to be as cool as the games they play on it. Because of its diminutive size and industrial-hip look, Game Boy Micro immediately identifies the person playing it as a trendsetter with discriminating style."

Of course it's released in the U.S. This is what, a 3 year old product? Why you posting in such an old thread?

P.S. The only reason they can make things smaller is because technology advances.
