There was some mention at Planet Age of Mythology about villager caps. That means that, for whatever civilization, you'll only be allowed X number of villies. The given numbers seem fairly low in comparison to other Age games though, and the article also suggests that the economies will still be of similar sizes.
The only instance where I recall villager caps occuring in an Age game were Age of Mythology's lightning games. Of course, this is a game where gathering, production, etc. are all super fast, so it's an exception. While I do consider that this system is being tested quite a bit, keep in mind that previous games by Ensemble Studios had players building well over 100 villagers quite effectively, even when the total population cap was 200. Ok, this is a specific example from Age of Kings Point is, I don't see why the villager cap should be adopted. Perhaps it might not interfere with the game, but there's a danger it does. Possibly it will be used to correct balance issue, though it could be one itself. I'm usually one to step in and say it will be balanced, assuming ES is perfect and all, but this feature never made sense to me.

well in AOK vills can get a +15 attack bonus vs buildings.. and I cant hardly see that as being usefull if you dont have about 40 vills just standing around
