As the subject tells us, [Dev]Pye mentioned in the official forums that v2.7 is going to be a full version download only, that means there won't be a patch from v2.6 to 2.7.

Quote:
[Dev]Pye wrote
It's going to be a full download.
We done a complete reorganization of the asset and code structure to support other work done by the various groups that are working with the AA code. There is a lot of governmental work that is based of the America's Army game that is largely invisible to the gaming public. In order to support that work we had to make some changes to the way code and assets are labeled, stored, written etc... Because of those changes, it's not really possible to patch the old asset packages without having a "patch" that comes out to nearly the size of a full install. So, unfortunately, there won't be a patch version of 2.7.

In addition to avoid rumor spreading about the release date:

Quote:
[Dev]Pye wrote
I'll save you the anticipation. It's not July.

Quote:
[Dev]Pye wrote
If it makes you feel any better, at one point it was set for July. You may infer from that how far or close off it is now.

The final release will be:

[Dev]Pye wrote
Junetober 34th.

Well it seems 2.7 is the biggest surprise and under pressure relase out of every other version.

But what can I say? It's gonna be a whole new AA

UPDATE! From AAO tracker.

Written by ^iletzu^, 19.07.2006 at 15:05.
quote:
[...] To level the playing field (and hopefully instill more team-centric gameplay), we've created the Situational Awareness Indicator (or SAI), which replaces the compass at the top center of the HUD. Sitting at lower left of the player’s HUD, the SAI represents a top-down view of the area immediately surrounding the current player.

The SAI has 3 levels of zoom (and a full-screen toggle) to provide players with a quick, visual understanding of their surroundings, and also report on enemy movement (via the "Enemy Spotted" function to plot a marker for others to see). However, in order to see your team mates in the SAI, you must have Line of Sight (LOS). [...]

quote:
[...] We are pleased to present a new feature added to this SITREP -- Videos! We will be testing many different formats, from streaming MPEG to streaming Flash. They say a picture is worth a thousand words -- we hope that this new addition will do just that! [...]

They've installed a minimap for 2.7
Finally the enemy spotted commo will be USEFUL!

They're probably waiting for the gamers to **** themselves with excitement first, but I think that's completed. But uhhh, let's go with the word "soon".

I don't think ALL maps have changed, maybe they still have the old one's like urban assault and other ones, and they can probably use co-op mode too.

They said that Bridge crossing was gonna become the SE one, with the terrain around it. And Bridge SE was just gonna double the size.

To be honest, i dont like it all that much. But you don't have to expand it so its fine if its just in the corner where you can ignore it.

I don't care if they do, so if there's new maps, I won't get lost. The only time an enemy appears on the map is when someone says enemy spotted (now It actually has a use).
