DS Age of Empires

Real-time becomes turn-based in handheld port of popular series.

When Nintendo DS was first introduced, its two screens and stylus-based gameplay seemed a perfect fit for handheld real-time-strategy games. Majesco Entertainment and developer Digital Eclipse are taking advantage of this with Age of Empires: The Age of Kings, a portable conversion of Ensemble Studios' popular real-time-strategy series.
"Age of Empires has set the gold standard for real-time strategy games and its global audience continues to grow," said Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing at Majesco. "Our portable version provides an exceptional game experience by taking advantage of the new DS features..."

In actuality, Age of Empires: The Age of Kings removes the real-time and makes it turn-based, as players move from the Dark Ages to the Middle Ages as the Britons, Franks, Mongols, Saracens, or Japanese. With over 45 kinds of units available amongst 50 technology upgrades, making use of hero units like Richard the Lionheart and Robin Hood are crucial to dominating the world.

Up to four players can wirelessly link into the game's planned multi-player scenarios, enhanced with music and sound effects pulled straight from the PC version.

Age of Empires: The Age of Kings is scheduled for a holiday release.

damn, they had such a great idea and HAD to make it TURN BASED..

what was wrong with real-time? can't this next-generation handheld handle moving animations?

AOK on DS that would freaking suck Sounds about as succesful as when Activision tried to make AOK for ps2 back in 2002
