HERO ONLINE

Storyline:
Quote:
Can you tell us what the game is all about and what is the main goal?
In Hero Online, there are multiple storylines which players can carry out. The main storyline is based on a legend of Twelve Demons and the Great Dragon Lord that defeated them. The Great Dragon Lord has been murdered and rumors that the Twelve Demons resurrected begin to spread. The objective of the player is to become a hero and defeat or prevent the resurrection of evil and restore peace to the world.
What about your reward system? Is it right that you count the monsters a player has killed in a play session and that you reward the player depending on this count? Sounds like hardcore grinding to me.
Hero Online provides various methods of rewarding the player. As far as kill counts, we do reward those players who spend time in levelling their characters with prize chests which awards them with small prizes. However, that is only one of our reward methods. Players will be rewarded through completing the required quests, for participating and winning the battle, as well as random quizzes and in-game events that will be regularly held.
Do you plan mounts?
In Hero Online, we have already implemented mounts. There is one common mount and four class specified mounts. The class mounts vary from each occupation and they can be tamed throughout the world of Hero Online. One special feature about our mount system is that not only can you tame wild beasts into mounts; you can also level them up along with your character. Furthermore, once they reach a certain level, their class change as well. For an example, the Brown Horse becomes a White Horse once it reaches level 51 (5th Dan 1st Kyu) which then evolves into a Black Horse at level 84 (8th Dan 4th Kyu).
Is there a crafting system implemented in the game?
Yes, a crafting system is also implemented as well. In order for you to craft an item, you must prepare several different items that can be obtained from quests and hunting monsters. Since success is not guaranteed and the success rate varies within a certain range, you will need some luck as well as all the required materials to successfully craft your items. You can also strengthen, extract, or dismantle items as well. Think of strengthening as enchanting items in any other MMORPG. You take the item you want to strengthen to a blacksmith, provide 1~3 of the type of material you want to strengthen your item with, add some charms for an improved success rate if available, pay the fees and your item is strengthened with added options. For the type of materials used, each material has a specific option associated with it. For an example, Diamonds increase the dodge rate option of your item and Rubies increase max chi. Extracting undoes a strengthening process and dismantling undoes crafting.
Are there any death penalties?
Yes, there are death penalties. When your character dies in the game, he/she will lose 5% of his/her total experience. This system was implemented not only to make the players feel that every small encounter counts, but also to force them to maintain a level of control over their characters as they gain levels. This system is also implemented in PvP as well. Players gain experience as they defeat other players and lose experience when they die to other plays. On top of experience gain and loss, honor points are also implemented in PvP. As players actively engage in PvP, they will gain/lose honor points, which grant them titles within the game.
Is it possible to engage in PvP?
Yes, PvP is one of the highly promoted features within the game. PvP can be divided into two general categories. First is the bounty hunting system. In Hero Online, any player can place a bounty on another player. When another player kills the player with the bounty then they are rewarded according to the bounty prize set by the initial player. The second type of PvP is the Vendetta system. It can only be activated by the House Master and it will allow you to freely attack the players of the opposite faction. Once you get attacked by any other player in the game, you will be able to attack back at them as self defence. These features can only be carried out at higher level field maps. Such restrictions were made in order to protect low level players from getting ganked by high level players. One other PvP feature is the battle zone. Depending on their factions and houses, players will be able to join a battle in which they will fight for rewards and honor of their factions or houses. There will be weekly faction battles and house battles. There will also be a system in which players in opposing factions will battle for rights to mine minerals and materials for a set period of time.
What classes and races can the player choose from?
There are four characters a player can choose in the beginning: male and female forms of a sword/bow/fist weapon/throwing weapon character and an axe/spear character. Once players reach 1st Dan they can choose their occupation between Warrior, Assassin, Hunter, and Physician and further occupational choices are available at higher levels. Players can enjoy Hero Online in their own unique way based on their personal preferences.
What is the level cap?
The level cap of Hero Online is 10th Dan, or level 100.
How big is the game world?
The world of Hero Online has been divided into many regions, and within these regions, there are several zones which players enter according to their level. The actual zone size may seem not too big, but it is certain that players will need to explore the zones thoroughly in order to carry out the quests, and in doing so we are confident that they will not feel the maps are too small at all.
Is the game instanced?
No, there are no instances in the game. All areas are open field, so that players can freely interact with each other.
Korean MMOGs differ from western games in several points. What features do you adjust to make the game suitable to the western market?
It is evident that even the very back bone of the Hero Online is far different from the western games in sense how it has its basis in the Martial Arts and eastern culture. Because of such foundation, no major adjustments have been made since any change can lead to possible misinterpretation of the sole focus in eastern theme. Thus, translation team has worked very hard in order to use proper diction that will keep the core essence of the game.
How differs Hero Online from other Korean MMOGs like RF Online, Archlord, 9 Dragons, World of Quin 2, etc.? Is there a special unique feature?
Unlike any other games that have been already introduced, Hero Online provides intensive storylines. The storyline of Hero Online was written by four Eastern martial arts fiction authors. They developed a deep story with several different quests and missions that intertwine to create an extraordinary experience.
