Worldwide Launch on November 17th, 2006 (SCEA) What is the price of the PS3? Console with 20GB HDD - $499.99 USD / $549.99 CAN Console with 60GB HDD - $599.99 USD / $649.99 CAN (SCEA) What is included in the North American PS3 bundle? To Be Announced What colors will the PS3 available in? Black at launch. Can the unit be displayed horizontally/vertically? Yes, the console can be positioned vertically or horizontally just like the PlayStation 2 console. How many controllers can the PS3 support? The PS3 can support up to 7 Bluetooth Devices. What is the primary format of media utilized by the PS3? Blu-ray Disc (BD). Blu-ray drives utilize a blue-violet laser as a posed to the red infrared lazers used in typical DVD and CD players. The result is higher-quality output coupled with more information (25 gigabytes per layer) per disc. All games will be released on Blu-ray format. There will be no DVD releases. (IGN) How much will games cost? Games are rumored to cost: $70-$79 US dollars or $83-$94 Canadian dollars. Yes, the PLAYSTATION®3 is fully backwards compatible with the Playstation 2 and Playstation X (aka PS1) consoles. Additionally, old titles will be "displayed at high-resolutions", resulting in "much sharper image quality for older games". There are also better texture filters. Will there be an HDD (Hard Disk Drive) included? Yes. 20GB and 60GB models will be available. According to IGN, "...the system will feature community tools including lobby matching and voice chat, commerce features that includes bootable software via the hard drive and more" and "Best of all, the "basic" service will be free of charge." I got the 60GB one too. It has a nice new 750GB HDD in it now though, so eat that.
