Firewall

Need a firewall for my gf, she has avast but they keep getting trojans and worms that I keep having to spend time on fixing. I'm on vacation and can't go over there to fix it. She has ad-aware and Spybot S&D, they won't use avg because I'm not there to hold her hand through it. So anyone got a recommendation for a free firewall?

Free ones have limitations and they need someone to configure them a lot and run frequent scans still with the anti spyware/anti virus.
I suggest getting some money together for Spyware Doctor. I use it, and it's bloody brilliant. I did a simple scan, and came up with almost 1000+ additional threats from what other scans did with other software. (My PC was in bad shape. :P).
Spyware doctor comes with this sort of firewall for web surfing etc. It will block any malicious content downloads, and any dangerous scripts from running too.
I personally dislike Avast. You get virus, you hear that ANNOYING horn-like sound. Then you can't even quarintine the thing. Spyware Doctor is designed for spyware, but will protect you against everything.
If you have more money to spare, I suggest Norton. Good Luck searching around. Google "Spyware Doctor"

Yeah, I don't like Avast either. She got a virus about once a week, so it obviously is a crappy software. I have Mccaffee myself, and never had a problem, but it's not free so idk. Maybe search some torrents around.

To be honest, Anti-Viruss have very good security nowadays. As in, if you torrent it, the key will be taken for sure. Also, they do upload a lot of data to other third party, and if they get a software match, they'll disable the key and your software, thus making your PC vunerable again.

I know there's a couple kaspersky cracks out there, maybe get that. Anyways do you know of any decent free ones?

AVG is the best free one..
Spybot Search and Destroy too perhaps...

nod32 best free you can get but only free one you can download is outdated badly but still works great only thing though got to get it threw torrents or just get avg not bad but avast or whatever blows wouldnt use it and dont mind me asking how does she keep getting viruses?

Nod32 Anti-Virus is the best at this time,,,,,, you can only get it by downloading from torrents,,,,,,,,,,,,, it is outdated badly but still works great,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,or just download avg best thing your gonna find.


edit~~~ and possibly tell us what your girl friend is doing to get these viruses?

The way she gets the viruses is not the topic at hand, and therefore should not be discussed.
On topic however, Nod32 will not protect you against anything these days. Not the old one anyways. The ESET one however will, as that is the new one. It won some awards in 2006 for best virus removal. But, there is a 30 day trial limit, and after that you must pay.

I suggest just paying for one man, get it over and done with.

Hive, I'm just saying that I had no idea what you were trying to say. Btw she shares the pc with 3 other people so no idea where the viruses are coming from. THanks xtreme.

i use avira-antivir combined with my router's firewall. never had a problem with any trojans / spywared that i didn't want installed on my pc
