FireFox Tweak - Speed Hack
This tutorial will enable some features in firefox that will allow pipelining to increase speed in firefox. It opens more connections to browse tons faster. Im not sure about downloading though, I don't think this effects it, but browsing is a for sure thing. This is a very simple thing to do. Effect Level: DSL/Cable Modem | 90% Increase ISDN | 60% Increase 56k / 28.8k | 25% Increase As you can see from the above, it works best on a high broadband connection, but still none the less for dialup users. 1. Open about:Config In the title bar of FireFox Open the page "about:config" 2. Locate the Strings Now you need to find the following strings/options whatever you want to call them. You can find the correct ones easily by using the filter bar at the top. Type network.http It should leave you will only a few results. Now find the following. network.http.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests network.http.proxy.pipelining Network.http.pipelining - Double Click to Set to True Network.http.pipelining.maxrequests - Double Click and Set to 30 Network.http.proxy.pipelining - Double Click to Set to True Right click anywhere and hit NEW>>INTEGER Interger name: nglayout.initialpaint.delay Value: 0 This will stop the delay that firefox takes before loading a page.
