IP adress conflicts

how do i fix or change my IP adress? everytime i get the errour the internet dont work and a lil yellow sigh comes up in the task bar.

so how do i fix my junky windows?

Hi mala,

Your IP address is assigned to you by your ISP. With a bit of luck, you'll have a Static IP (they're better), but you might have a Dynamic one.

If it's dynamic, just disconnect and reconnect - your IP willl change.
If it's static:

Start>Run>cmd

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

You'll get a new IP.

However -- your IP Conflict is MUCHC more likely to be on your LAN (as in, 99.999% more likely).

Go to your Router Setup (http://192.168.1.1/ - usually) - and assign your PC to the IP:

192.168.0.2
then, any other devices , leave as Dynamic set ("DHCP").
