Hive: Please try using a bit of punctuation ... makes these threads much easier to read, especially when we start getting in to the good stuff.

Anywho, check www.PortForward.com, find your Router Model + Make, and follow the instructions from there. Right at the start, it should tell you how to connect to your router.

The following two IP's are the most commonly used to manage routers:

http://192.168.0.1/
http://192.168.1.1/

Also, you can go to:

Start>Run>cmd [enter]

Type: ipconfig

You'll see an IP come up (hopefully one) - try to connect to it - you should be logged in to your router management.

Let me know how it goes,

Dave

you'll need to open up ports 2300-2400, the process of doing this varies from router to router thou.

what kind of router do you have?

ok, try this, pick your router from this page here, then click w/e game, and follow the steps it gives you, let me know if you don't understand something.

Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.

when i put in my ip it says page cant be displayed

You have to put the router ip address there, and once you access the router you use your ip address.

Hive:

we've gone through this. Start>Run>cmd ipconfig

192.168.(something).1 = router IP - probably.

Open Internet Explorer, type that in the address bar - where you type in Zone.com , etc.
You'll get your Router page come up.

Follow the guide from PortForward.com . On your Router somewhere, you should have something like 'D-Link' , 'LinkSys' , 'Sitecom' - or something like this, the make + model of your router.

It may also have it on your router config page.

Select your router from the list on http://www.portforward.com/english/routers...routerindex.htm , choose "Age Of Empires II", and follow the instructions.

Lastly, you may or may not have a static IP. It doesn't really matter, as far as I know.

Visit http://www.whatismyip.com/ - Right at the top of the page, you'll see "Your IP Is **.*.**.***" - that's your 'WAN' IP - it might be static. Don't worry about it.

That's pretty much everything.
Lastly, Emp_Leader -- Nope. The IP you said (ipconfig) would be Internal, not External.

Cheers,

Dave

Hive, ignore Aket, he needs help to. And he's impatient.

Hive: To take a Screenshot, hit PrintScrn. Then, go in to Paint, paste the screenshot in (Ctrl+V).
Choose File> Save As .

In the bottom box (Save as Type, 24-bit Bitmap) - change that so it says "JPEG (*.JPG, *.JPEG, *.JPE, *.JFIF).

Save again. Image will be much smaller.
Then upload to ImageShack (www.imageshack.us), and show us the link.

On the other hand: Does the page look like this?

If so, keep reading.

At the top, with the 4 tabs - choose the one which says "Firewall".
Click "Firewall Settings".

Choose your computer from the list (Step 1).
Click the "Allow individual Applications" button.
Choose "Add a new user-defined application".

Application Name: AOE21
Protocol: TCP
Port FROM: 2300
Port TO: 2400

Application Type: None (default).

Then "ADD DEFINITION".

Add another one, using the following settings:

Application Name: AOE22
Protocol: TCP
Port FROM: 47624
Port TO: 47624

And lastly, another one:

Application Name: AOE23
Protocol: UDP
Port FROM: 2300
Port TO: 2400

One they are all added, select your computer from the main screen again.

Select AOE21 from the LEFT BOX and click Add.
Do the same for AOE22 and AOE23.

When you're done, press "Done" in the bottom right of the screen.

That should do it!

Let me know if you have any problems.

Lastly, Aket - this is the "Tech Support" problem - with time, you'll learn you need a LOT of patience when it comes to helping people with computers. Don't lose it, try to be helpful - if you can't, then don't post.

Cheers,
Dave.
