I bought an alien lime green laptop, for a total of $6,000, a good deal, for about 10 g of RAM, and since Alienware is all about gaming, and showing the TRUE GAMING EXPERIENCE, I continue to use it strictly for gaming and designing...

what the label doesn't tell you, is after you use up 8 gigs of RAM the metal monstrosity begins to crash, lag, and boot on you, causing you to sync, or drop out of games..

though it is very fast, it does have it's fair share of errors, and to be honest spending the money on an alienware laptop is quite pointless, so I'm just saying for anyone who wants to buy an alienware computer, don't, and if you do, make sure you keep the RAM low...

just wanted to see who has the same opinion or whatever

My next comp
COMP:
CPi : GAMER ULTRA SLI ELITE with AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Processors
Runs for $1129 + Shipping...

I was kind of interested in getting an alienware laptop... but I guess thanks for the heads up... I don't think I would ever have that many GiGz of stuff though. I usually play 1 or 2 games at a time, and that is it.
Maybe I'll get it, for X-Mas, really any laptop for xmas is good

I wasn't sure if I was really wanting to get a laptop or a regular "well, over regular..." lets say awesome Computer...

that's not a bad "next computer," in fact, it's not bad at all

how RAM do you get with it?? because I got deals on mine, usually gigs are 'up there' in price.. but i got 5 ram for just $125 kind of lucky..

im building my new computer very soon

The price of ram depends on the generation (SD, DDR, DDR2) and speed (PC 3200, PC 5300, etc.). Newer generations and faster speeds will yield higher prices.

There's really no reason at all to have 10GB or ram, unless you are running several resource-intensive applications at once, which is essentially useless.

lol, though useless it's good to say you have 10. + it was for a good price, I can flip it and sell for double that, so it's all good, and I do agree that it is very unnecessary, but hey whatever.

I like memory, because you never know when you'll need it, and like I said I did a ton of gaming on it, but also my designing.. I have a ton of scripts, and files on it that it does take up a few spaces here and there... but I think it was a mistake to get an Alienware laptop in general

I probably won't ever buy an Alienware, mostly because it's so much cheaper to DIY.

ah you did a DIY?

yeah I'm in the process of making one, mine wont be a laptop though, I have multi fans that have a neon blue with black frame, it's very costly but worth it, I'll just steal the RAM from my laptop and other computers, so yeah.

I'll post pictures.

keyboard:

Mother board:

I'm still deciding on how many IN. the Screen should be, I'm interested in a 19 in, but I'm not sure.
and I'm getting more pieces by the day, it's not bad for a budget of $700 lol

that's not bad, but it's also breakable.. becareful though because some things you've mentioed are not very compatable with some other things you've mentioned just know there might be some run time errors, or some dll errors.

Nice Comp you've got there. Really.
Is that the sound system with all the switches? LoL that would be awesome if all that controlled just starting the comp. Like a racecar engine switchboard lol. Looks nice. (mines gonna own yours :P)

The only reason you would need 10 gigs of ram, would be.
If all of everything on there was your life.! EVERYTHING!
LoL. Like you live your life there, have it all saved there, etc...
Then a hacker deletes you :P

Heres all the stuff that was on the COMP I talked about earlier that I'm interested in:
CPi : GAMER ULTRA SLI ELITE
- NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI Chipset MB W/ Dual 16X PCI Express
- Genuine Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 w/ SP 2
- Corsair 1025 MB PC6400 DDR2 800 Dual Channel Memory
- 250 GB 7200RPM SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 8MB Cache Hard Drive
- (2) NVIDIA GeForce 7600GS 256MB DDR3, Over 80% performance gain over single graphics card solution
- LG 16X DVD+-RW Drive & 16X DVD-ROM
- NVIDIA nForce4 7.1 3-D Surround Sound
- 600Watt Subwoofer System
- Logitech Office 104 Keyboard
- Logitech Optical Wheel Mouse
- Turbo X-Cruiser Case 420Watt with See Through Windows
- CoolerMaster Aqagate Mini Liquid Cooling System
- 6 Colors to Choose from!
- Free 802.11 G Wireless PCI Network Adaptor
- 3 Year Limited Warantee
+ Lifetime Tool Free 24/7 Techsupport
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Processor

All of that equals : $1129.°° + Shipping

Add-On:
19" Viewsonic VA902B Xtreme 8ms Gaming LCD Display : $229.°°

Too me, that sounds worth it...
LIQUID COOLING!
SEE THROUGH CASE!
2 PROCESSOR CHIPS!
A SOUND SYSTEM WORTHY OF REPLACING MY STEREO IN BEDROOM!

And I'm going to have it :xmas: h34r:
Now keep in mind it's not two processor chips, but two cores.

I'm in the middle of an upgrade on my current PC. Here's what I'll have in a few weeks:

Gigabyte GA-945P-S3 ATX Intel (Socket T)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1GHz FSB (Conroe core)

It's all pretty nice, then you come to the Celeron. That ruins the whole deal. =\

And SATA-II, is that 1.5 Gb/s or 3.0 Gb/s? I've never seen it written as SATA-II.

You can make a computer as good as an alienware for around $800-900 Instead of $1,000+

I just got an alienware for the purpose of having one, plus when you have the money to spend on certain things like that, you do it, but have I known it was like buying a diamond toilet.. I wouldn't have gotten it..

It can be fast, but this speed corrupts itself, and goes to fast for its own good, and shuts itself down. I checked the mainframe and the hard drive to make sure it wasn't an error, and I was right, it wasn't an error, it was just alienware's run too fast for their own good...
