General Site Rules

• You may only have one account registered here. If you wish to have your name changed, please pm an admin. Note that any new accounts you register will be deleted and you'll remain using your first and original account.
• Your name may only contain western characters and numerics, other characters such as Chinese are not allowed.
• Posts must be made in English. We cannot moderate what we cannot read. Find a translator if needed. A verbal warning will be sent out the first time you're found to be posting in non-English. Anytime thereafter will be considered a failure to comply with staff requests.
• There will be no abuse of the forum, e-mail, or PM system.
  • You may not promote, plan, or facilitate any illegal activities
    through the forum under any circumstances. Plain and simple
  • This is not the place to advertise and sell things. Soliciting includes (but is not limited to)
    advertising server hosting companies, selling CD keys, selling Steam accounts,
    and trading/selling anything with a monetary value. (unless other wise posted)
• Do not try and exploit bugs in the forum software
• Respect all other members or staff members
  • Other members of vGaming Online should be treated to the same respect as you yourself are.
    Messages posted in the forum are written by other people and do not magically appear out of the air.
    These other people have feelings and opinions just as you do and should be treated a such.
  • Harassment of any kind is against the law and is forbidden here. If you harass anyone you shall be auto banned.
  • Don't openly argue with a moderator if they decide to
    close / delete / move a thread or issues a warning against you
• Any issue concerning moderating or administrative action MUST be dealt with via PM, not in the form of a topic complaining about it.
• Don't mistake your freedom of speech with the freedom to post nonsense or content in violation of the definitions below. vGaming Online staff has every right to keep the site free of content it deems unfitting for its name. While you will never be warned for voicing your opinion, you may be warned for the MANNER in which you voice it.
• Read the pinned topics in each forum first. There is information pinned in them for a reason. You can avoid confrontation and even moderating action taken against you by reading the pinned topics first.
• These rules serve to protect those who follow them, not those who don't.

Rules concerning posting and replying

• Inappropriate content is not allowed, and action may be taken against a topic for any of the following reasons:
• Don't post profanity, racism, sex and violence
  • Don't post porn, gross stuff, or anything else NSFW (not safe for work).
    Basic message keep the forum clean.
  • Racism in general terms consists of conduct or words or practices
    which disadvantage or advantage people because of their color, culture or ethnic origin.
  • Please use common sense.
    If you wouldn't say it to you parents in common conversation, it's not appropriate here
• No Spamming
  • Spam is not accepted here on vogn and neither is flaming.
    If you do then you will be warned by a member of staff.
  • Finally if you don't have something constructive to add to a thread, then dont post at all.
  • No "bumping" of threads because you can. There's is enough spam already.

  Moderating or administrative action may be taken against a post for any of the following reasons:
• Trolling
  • Continually trying to antagonize someone or a group of people
  • Insulting someone's preferred faction with no proof to back it up
• Contains misinformation or misleads people
• Contains or links to any inappropriate content
• The post slags off other websites or gaming companies or it's a topic that may make a member of the Community Leaders group or Game Producers group feel unwelcome on vGaming Online

Rules concerning profiles and signatures

• Maximum size of an avatar is 100 x 100 and 50KB
• Profiles must not contain any disallowed material
• Signatures:
  • Image's max width is 500 & max height is 150
  • File size must be less than 100Kb (102400 bytes).
  • One narrow-form Xfire sig is allowed in addition to your normal sig, but it counts as three lines of normal text
  • Images may not change pictures at any rate less than 1 per second (no flashing animations)
  • No text in signatures larger than 8 is allowed
  • As said in rule 3, your signature may not contain the following :
    PROFANITY, RACISM, SEX, VIOLENCE OR DISRESPECT to a member
• All offending material will be removed without notice or warning by the staff.

Warning System

• Every time you break on of these rules you will be warned!
  • 1st time: 1 warning point, 12hr
  • 2nd: 1 warning point, 24hr
  • 3rd: 1 warning point, 72hr
  • 4th: 1 warning point, 1 week
  • 5th: 1 warning point, 2 week
  • 6th: 1 warning point, 1 month
  • 7th: 1 warning point, 2 month
  • 8th: 1 warning point, 3 month
  • 9th: 1 warning point, 6 month
  • 10th: 1 warning point, Good bye
• Each time you get warned you will be:

Other Rules

"Rape" as a gaming term
Please do not use that term in a gaming context on this forum. Rape is a serious crime, that causes severe mental (and often physical) trauma to the victims. Using it as a gaming term totally devalues the seriousness of the crime, not to mention that some people may find its use in a gaming context offensive or distressing (for much the same reasons I have already mentioned).

We are NOT banning the use of the word "rape" on these forums. If anyone wants/needs to discuss rape (the agricultural crop) or rape (the crime, via the Serious Discussion forum) then they are free to do so. This request applies solely to the use of the word rape within gaming slang such as "we just totally raped them!" The word "raped" in this instance can easily be replaced with, for example, "destroyed."

Back seat Moderating
I do believe I speak for the rest of the Moderators when I say that I'm tired of seeing a lot of people doing all of this "backseat moderating". From this point forward, all "backseat moderating" posts will be deleted on sight. There are proper ways to go about doing these things. One of them is to report the post and/or topic to a Moderator, by PMing them a link to it. No more of this backseat Moderating stuff. It's highly annoying.

Giving Credit Where Deserved.
From now on, any guide that you take directly from a source or website, you are required to give credit. Yes I know It's not copyrighted, but it's still another person's hard work, and they deserve credit. All you have to do is put the person's name, you don't need to link directly to the source. You can however use information from guides to create your own, but any directly quoted information must be credited.
